Candlemas .... e. Milk 's ass! A Sunday Snow

the second day of the month of February, is called Candlemas (or Madonna Ceraiuola), more specifically in my dialect, which is what cheese is called THE CANDLEINA . The proverb points out that if she should BAT IN THE SOUL OF THE CANDLEINA TO THE TOURNE TERD RUNDANEINA or e Romel PIO TO THE FLOUR , or if the day of Candlemas, the sun comes out, return late or the swallow will be no more bran flour, because winter will be long and will still cold. From the photos I took last Monday, after the snowfall on Sunday, then I would say that it is too early to hang the jacket and coat in the closet .....

addition to the traditional Bendizione of candles during Mass, held fairs a bit 'in all of' Italy in recent days. Reading some news about upcoming events, attracted my attention the traditional Fair of San Bartolomeo al Mare (Imperia) to the active participation of ' Montebaducco farm with his donkeys. An interesting and innovative shows that of donkeys, bred here, a few miles from my house, where the plain began to slowly give way to the foothills, in a quiet village called Salvaro in the town of Quattro Castella.

I open a small brackets as a reminder that Quattro Castella is known for Parade Matildico which takes place every year in late May to commemorate the foot of Castle Bianello medieval battles and the crowning of the Countess Matilde di Canossa Viceregina in Italy. I doubt this way of talking later, but for some more information I leave here in two links of interest:

Returning to our donkeys, Montebaducco hosts various breeds of donkeys so that it has been ranked among the largest herds of Europe 's, here are indeed breeds such as: Martina Franca, Amiata, S. Andrew S. Domenico, Sarda, Ragusa, Sologne, Poitou (French donkeys), Egyptian and Arab, in addition to the rare breed white.

It' s a cottage renovated from an old convent and the ability to stay and taste the delicacies of our cuisine, in addition to 'well known mare's milk, food especially suitable for children, even infants intolerant to cow's milk and the elderly who suffer from osteoporosis. The Donkey 's milk because it has the same components of human milk protein-free typical cow's milk to which some children may be allergic. The time of milking and milk processing was showcased during the fair in San Bartolomeo al Mare and I found this very interesting and educational for adults and children. Often we talk about milking cows, sheep, goats, but hardly today we witness the milking of a donkey, which is carried out by farmers themselves with a system tailored for the animals to ensure maximum hygiene.

Among the various activities proposed by the 'Farm wanted to highlight the seasonal festivals
(distributed in any given period of' years), during which is a step back in time and we are witnessing the split in the wood, the pressing of wine, sheep shearing and threshing .... all like our grandparents and great-grandparents, a sort of return to the campaign volta.Se you fancy a visit, you will find many other interesting and useful information, find the link below. Good evening everyone!
